Ah yes the old brake to modern brake interface, you've got to be careful crossing that. A friend of mine went from a canti braked Claud Butler via a Cannondale lefty equipped hydro disc'd wonder bike to a face plant with terra firma in under 10 yards

Did exactly the same when trying discs for the first time. Friend's bike too, brand new, think I scraped a lever and bar-end.

TK - Are you heading out quite soon? And where are you staying? Up in the city? Looking forward to hearing all about it and hopefully a picture or two. Don't worry about the brake levers being on the 'wrong' side of the bars either, I didn't find it as bad as I thought it would be.

2 weeks ZZ, I have a free Saturday after a conference in SF, will be heading over on the Friday and staying 2 nights. I've ridden a US road bike and the lever switch doesn't bother me at all, Pat and Charlie's level of fitness will probably embarrass me, but I'll still enjoy myself. Ride will only be about 15 - 20 miles I reckon, and as long as some of it is down hill I should be fine

Definitely want to try and photo some of the wildlife over there, Pat's Today's Ride thread is pure inspiration.

Staying in the centre of Fairfax, a few music bars on the doorstep so should have a good time.
