Aye pretty much, I reckon the Scandal will cope with a load of riding and a Spearfish would only be a notch above. The HT is quite a bit more capable I reckon, designed around a 120 or 140 fork which is top end of the travel stakes for 29ers just now. Spearfish is falling more into the XC/Endurance whereas the Horsethief is more AM/Enduro.*
