I may have got the wrong end of the stick to start with, but it was what I was thinking about. I don't know much about them, but was told the Hope screw on hubs are a nightmare sourcing the freewheel, as I have recently bought one. Not looked for one, as got no cash

I've just looked on eBay and google and there seems to be a good range of them available. 5 - 9 speed.
Just quickly reading the Sheldon Brown website too, the threads should all be the same and you don't need any tools, so as long as you know the size you need it looks quite straight forward.
