So now you're adding another variable into the mix, not quite sure how that'll effect the grease or not on the taper but it gives him something else to look into ;-)
 
Perhaps we need to take a different approach with the esteeemed membership in the No camp. Aybody from the No camp ever try welding them on? How about drill & pin? Advantages: No fuss with the correct torque business. No worries about them coming loose either.

Then check them a few times after that

To resolve this hopeless impass, how about the moderators open a simple yes/no poll? A democratic solution seems the only way out, otherwise we'll be trapped in this perpetual void of non-consensus till the end of time..

I agree. There is no point. Deep down we all know that no grease is the answer.
