2nd upgrade Jan Janssen

I did upgrade last week my Jan Janssen bike of 1976 for the second time. I did respray it, and added specialy made stickers, as a replica teambike of the professional dutch caballero team as in the '60/'70. As they had no material sponsor the riders did buy a bike as they wanted, which was sprayed in the team colors by the team. The team did participate in the Tour de France of 1970.

In 1976 as original

I really like that. What kit do you have on it?

Nothing is orginal anymore. Everything has been replaced once or even more. It is not quite a kit so to speak anymore.

- Wheels are Mavic rims with Normandy hubs (high flanges = strong wheels).
- Tubes Continental Giro.
- Freewheel pignon Shimano 13-28
- Handlebars Cinelli 42-66, stem Cinelli 1R.
- Handlebartape - Tressostar. (looking for red instead of black).
- Brakes Modolo Corsa (black, sublime stoppers !)
- Brake levers Shimano 105 (the nicest slim ones ever made).
- Cable binders on top tube Shimano Dura Ace
- Cranks, chainrings and chainstays SR Maxi 52-38 (48 as spare)
- Front mech Campagnolo Super Record.
- Shifter Suntours powershifters.
- Rear mech Shimano 105 (because the earlier Camagnolo 980 could not 'get' the 28 cog)
- Seatpost SR (just like Campagnolo 196:cool:
- Saddle Crivit (from Lidl !!!! I do have a San Marco Rolls Royce, but cannot get used to it.)
- Pedals SR.
- Toeclips and straps (and strapends) Lapize.
- Chain SRAM
- Spokes Hoshi
- Bottle cage - Elite (looking for a TA)

So, I think every brand is on it. ;)

I finaly completed this Caballero project this winter. And also shown in rBoTM of february. Maybe to early. Last month I did mount a MAFAC racer brake kit including the original '70 levers. Last week I did add a more time related bottle cage. And yesterday I got my wish completed, a really leather saddle. In a perfect condition, well maintaned. An Idéale 70, also French, as the brakes. And a more or less time related bottle. Ofcourse there always more wishes. We wait till they apear. I am already glad with it as it is.
