Why are chain tools made of cheese??

My X-tools is really nice, comes with extra bits and the pressure is taken up by the movable end part. All my other ones I've had eventually gave up and a resting plate snapped eventually. All types over the years of that simpler design as above.

it's the best I've used.
just remember what the end bit is for, you adjust it to rest against the plate, else it'll end up like the rest I would guess.
Comfy to use as well.

It's the force these widened end chains need that destroys them

I use one of the baby Park Tools one that I've had for years. Replaceable pins too.

The Shimano ones are supposed to be ace but are very expensive.

The little Park Chain Brute is nice, well made and spare pins are available easily. If you use a chain tool a lot though, the CT3 is worth every penny. It's a joy to use and will last beyond eternity. :)

I'd go for a Park CT-3 as it'll last! You can replace the pins as required and it just feels nice to use. Before that I went through a chain tool every year or so (fixing a lot of bikes tbf)
