What about a retro mtb magazine?

Welcome :)

I've been thinking about this recently as there's Retro Car, Retro Gamer, etc... But I'm not sure the retro-biking movement is large enough to sustain a whole magazine.

It's disappointing that there's virtually zero retro content in the existing bike magazines. I've got copies of MBR and Total Bike from 1997 and they have many pages of retro/used bike content, so why not now?

I guess the bikes and kit are so different that they don't appeal to most people buying new stuff.

every so often there is a similar discussion amongst Series Land Rover owners as most of landy mags cater for defenders etc and limited content for classic land rovers................

same idea but size of readership ?

Has been discussed on here many times before with people usually agreeing that there just wouldn't be a big enough market for it.

What would go in a retro magazine that we don't already get on here? Most people can browse from their phones/tablets now anyway so its a bit of a damp squib.

In place of the old gallery it would be good to have a "Garage" area where you could post pictures, spec and write a bit about your bikes... Kinda like the "30 Days of GT" feature. The trouble with project threads is they're 90% banter.

If the Wiki was more popular people would write more guides, articles, history of brands, etc.. I've written a couple of technical guides but had to just stick them in general chat to be noticed. I must figure out how the hell you use the Wiki :?

Perhaps the old gallery and mag/brochure scans forum should be merged into the Wiki and that becomes the one stop shop for organised info?

apart from having something to read in the bog ..I can't see a magazine as being sustainable. Even more so as hard back publications and their readership are on the decrease due to so much being published on the internet..nice idea, but unlikely to take off

This site is as good as any magazine, it has bike porn, discussions about every conceivable bike subject and non bike, laughter, tears, joy and classifieds what more could you want :)
