chain ring wear

I bought a new HG50 8sp chain from ebay, new in box, £6 posted. even the cheapest cassette is expensive compared to that!!!
 
thanks everyone for comments and pics of how bad it can get, will put back on with new chain and see where we get to..............and will post results

Yeah,they look fine :?
Its only when theyre short and very very jaggy that its fit for the bin .Or grinding off the teeth to make a keeper/sort of bash ring thingy
 
That chainring looks fine to me, this is worn....

Test it
Take off one shoe and sock
Drop the ring onto your foot and if it sticks it then its too worn ;)

The chain is narrower only in respect of the thinner side plates - the rollers and thus the ring on which they sit are the same. I think!
