Stripping paint and anodising M563 cranks

Re: Removing paint M563

I use a home made polisher.
We have a 500w single phase motor at work & attached to that is a polishing wheel. :D

You can't really scratch cranks, as if you think about it, that's what you do when you polish... you scratch & by using finer grades of wet & dry, wire wool & polishing soap, you're only putting finer scratches into what you're polishing.
Most bench grinders/polishers that you can buy are around 150w, which is around a third of the power of our one :D
You can't get the same finish by hand!

Has anyone ever had Shimano cranks anodised?

I was going to spend some elbow grease doing it. Not sure how shiney a surface I want though. The Mechs are all M950 so a dull finish.

Ben, these cranks arrived this morning - cheers pal, well pleased. I now face the same problem as you though - what to do so I can see my face in them??!!

I've used paintstripper and steel wool to remove a large part of the black paint, then taken more off using a rough grade of sandpaper. The main bit I'm struggling with is the rear of the spider. What have others used to get into all the tricky tight corners?
