Re: Carbon Fibre.... Inspiration required.

Am I too late... Walking Stick!

A modern twist on probably mans oldest invention!

Day 2....

The bullet shape went into the autoclave for most of the day.. Came out as it went in, so I've clearly not buggered anything up.. :D

Spent the rest of the day laying up 3d 90deg bends and waves, followed by repeating the same process with templates that I had to create and fabricate to fit said shapes. All bagged up and vacuum sealed overnight for a trip into the autoclave in the morning..

Hellishly tiring and labour intensive, but I really am loving it... Only challenge is I'm the only unskilled one there, everyone else has already been doing it sometime, in the real world.

No pics today... Too busy

Day 3....

Female mould, Kevlar prepreg, carbon prepreg, joggles, bushes and rebates..

Good new is I'm the only novice that has been able to come in and (almost) keep up with the experienced guys..

Happy days.

Re: Carbon Fibre.... Inspiration required.

Kevlar prepreg is no different to cut, if you use a knife..

If you use shears it'll destroy them in about 10 minutes.
In my opinion it's a little more difficult to manipulate, and slightly less tacky so needs warming up a bit more, too..

But what is it!!!!!!

We're not making anything in particular at the moment, just shapes etc.

Next week I'll be actually making 'things'
