Hi Craig
I'm way up north, about 8 miles from John O'Groats, not the end of the world, but I can see it from here ;)
My inlaws are near Balloch, Loch Lomond way so am down that way now and again. Can throw my bike in the van and head over your way sometime.
Used to having to travel distances to ride with the Macretro's

JESUS!! you couldn't live any further away could you?!!
I am just back from aboyne which i thought was the back end of
nowhere but that's only HALF the distance to your place!!

aye, give us a shout anytime you're down this way - i could even meet
you across the watter as i'd imagine that you'll be sick of driving after
that trip south!!

cheers,

A beautiful bike and very well done - as somebody born with the practicality of 10 thumbs, I am envious!

Just as a matter of interest, is that 53x 11(12) or bigger in the photo and, if so, do you ever get to use it other than down hill. I need a helluva tailwind just to turn my 53x13 over on the flat

nice....have you got this photo ? argh I cant find the one i want , Its a sprint finish with "winners arrive on time" written on it ....

Yes the 80s were a great time to be cycling I started in 78 and raced until 95 , my faverite team was La vie Clair.

yup, my favourite team too! was reading a piece by andy hampsten, who was
in both teams and he said that la vie claire was not a happy team at all
thanks to the hinault/ lemond division. it was a legendary moment to see
the north americans descend like maniacs to catch hinault in the alps (i think).
i will never forget phil liggett's commentary as the helicopter filmed the end
of hinault's escape....wonderful memories and the peak of pro cycling on the
telly as far as i'm concerned..
