1992 GT Xizang - rebuilt 26/04/12 pg3

Well this wasn't rode much in the last incarnation, just kept jumping on the zaskar!

I've made a few changes and slowly rebuilt in time for the good weather, when it finally gets here!

I've gone back to the original wheelset from kases' build.
2x8 with a larger big ring.
Real levers for a touch of blue amongst the controls.
Controltech canti up front.
Some nos gt ergo bars came my way so I had to give them a go, got some gt grips sent over from a friend in the states, the ebay listing postage was horrific to the uk.

Quite a few parts that would ruffle some feathers in the "What do you hate seeing on a gorgeous retro bike?" thread!
But it rides well and makes me smile!

I've still to cut the steerer down and sort out the spacers, these are just makeshift for now so I could get riding, so excuse those  Still finding the perfect height then I can neaten it up.

onto the pics..

Wow! That's very very nice! How come nobody's liking this?!

Even though almost all of the parts are from the 90's, there is a very modern feel to this build. That kind of combination of old and new works nicely IMO. I think there is a nice "I don't care" kind of attitude in putting nice bits - old or modern - together like that.

What did you do with those USE forks?

But I have to say. Those pedals. They are a bit... err... out of place here. Maybe.

edit. But all in all, this is a crazy and beautiful bike - in all it's incarnations.
