My 1992 Raleigh Peak

Hi,

Here you can have a look at my second piece of my own Sanctuary...

I bought it from a guy that didn´t used it a lot in those last 20 years. I just had to clean it, set it up, and introduce some changes that in my opinion fits OK with the look of the bike and its age.

The frame is a Technium Easton 9 alu main triangle with racors and rear end made in chromoly. Full XT mounted, with its original seatpost, stem and bars (I´m looking for new ones, like ZOOM or Syncros from that age).

The upgrades have been; the Marzocchi MX100 fork from 1991 (pristine, with no air or oil leaks), the front Panaracer Dart tyre (looking also for a Panaracer Smoke skinwall to match with it), the Specialized Ground Control rear tyre,Sintesi skewers, Onza barends, Onza Mongo II headset and Flite Titanium seat (I also have the original Brooks saddle).

Hope you like it. I would like to know your comments about it, or ideas to change something to make it look better.

Cheers,

Josh

Josh

thats real nice, I like it alot, you may not get to many comments thought.
Your single biggest problem is the badge on the front
The brand is massively under valued in the UK due to the shear
number of cheap crap that was produced by the factory.
In my mind Raleigh is a brand you did a paper round on as a spotty schoolboy...
To Americans I suppose the same applies to Schwinn

the fact legends like Tomac rode a Raleigh is lost to most,

I agree if people looked past their blinkered viewpoints there are some really nice bikes there.

I love the paint job on this one great buy

Thank you very much everyone!

In fact, here in Spain Raleigh´s didn´t have so much success on that era. Here the people liked most Konas, Kleins, Scotts or Specialized on the medium-high level bikes.

But, as you all agree, for me I just have good memories of the early 90´s, when Tomac was winning WC races with his Raleigh... I think this kind of bikes have something like "soul", not as today´s bikes, that are incredibly modern and technologically advanced...they look nice, but (for me) something is missing there.

Oldies rock it. ;-)

Cheers,

Josh

I had one of these - it was mint like yours. Really nicely made and rode very well too.

Your's is really nice - those forks suite it well.
