New year ... new project: Brave Pony 1991

Work in progress ...

Today I decided to go more black with this build. The wheelset is now Specialized BXL21 with black XT hubs. Looking much better than the silver wheelset. Drive will be black as well. My choice was my black CQP with black chainrings. Meanwhile Antstark sold me an interesting Sakae stem. It is called Tube (I only knew a model called Pipe). Whatever ... my first thoughts were: to slim! But hey, I think it suits perfect! What do you think?

Stay tuned ...

The Tube stem came on several Koga-Miyata models. I do not know what is the difference between Pipe and Tube. Diameter?

They were also used and painted to match some Braves, according to my sources. I have one, they are kinda interesting, they don't suit everything though.

Difference Pipe vs Tube: I did some research it is most likely alumimium (contrast colour) vs cromoly center section. Lugs are always cromoly.

Very funky frame, Andreas. Looks like it'll be another sweet build! Kind of reminds me of the EWR E-Motion frame, but with an E-stay.

On with the build! Finally I need a XT U-Brake (seatstay mount) and a pair (2 pc.) Scott Mathauser Superbrake in black to finish the Pony!

Just waiting for the original Brave logo stem and a black Answer Hyperlite to complete this build.

I absolutely love this bike. I am sure I can remember seeing an advert in a magazine BITD for this frame.
