Gay Marriage

Being Canadian ?...no ''the sticks''....it's a jokey retort to an insult.....and one good insult deserves another and has nothing to do with what I believe in.

what if everyone suddenly decided to be "gay" homosexual or lesbian.
it would look pretty grimm for the human race.

You might as well say "what if a race of giant Martian straw men* attacked the planet with killer bees?". That would look pretty grim too.

children should be conceived naturally.

Not all straight couples can conceive naturally. Do you object to fertility treatments or IVF too?

although i find this thread fascinating, its like chewing a piece of gum and fast losing its flavour.
the fact is homosexuality has become very "popular" in the last few years.
i firmly believe being "gay" is a choice, the same as being "straight" is a choice.
saying someone gay was born that way, is like like saying someone was born to be a paedophile.
or can people be born peadophiles ?
can people be born evil murderers ?
i think not, but homosexuality has become acceptable by the masses.
even our prime minister is in favour (should secure another term in office)

anyway i digress.
my point being we are born as boy or girl.
but everyone has a choice in life, and its wrong to take away that choice.
i know i am in a minority with my beliefs.
but i respect everyone's view. so please have some respect for mine.
peace to all retrobikers.

I'm not sure being gay has become popular more that as it becomes more socially acceptable more people are being open about there sexuality and and less likely to live in heterosexual relationships in which they clearly don't belong.

As to we are born either boy or girl, don't forget intersex people who are born with both genitalia some of whom now have to take hormones to keep them into the gender that the medical profession decided they belonged.

Personally - whatever your gender and sexual preference you should be free to choose what you like. Without restrictions or exclusions - freedom of choice ans speed eh.

Most religions have hokey kokey hang ups on gender or what you can and cannot do "because"

i take issue with people saying being homosexual is a choice and that more are choosing to be gay - utter bollox indeed. its a far more compicated thing than pure choice.

I do love those who love a good bit of gay bashing saying xy and z - ~"you cant have children if your gay" what about a gay lesbian both fully capable of conceiving without a man - just like some heterosexual couples that require help where the man is sterile or had testicular cancer. Or those who find gay men kissing despicable etc but will happily watch lesbian porn (it was called brookside wasn't it?)

Just to clarify my true thoughts :

My wife is bi-sexual and her brother is gay
My 1st girlfriend was from full African decent
I have gay friends, both men and women
I think racism is the highest form of ignorance, it's about attitude not colour or what football team you support.
Some people who pretend not to be racist and against gay people are afraid to say how they really feel.
I have no issue with anyones cultural background or sexual choices, if legal.
I do have concerns about financial strains on overloaded services (that's where I get branded something)
I'm glad some people have been honest and said they don't agree with being gay or in reference to religion.

The more open and honest people are the more the possibility of understanding and moving on.
I have a lot of 'faith' in people, but it's hard to hear what people 'really feel' just reading from a page and not hearing their voice or time to hear past experiences.

There's a big contrast, between 'accepting' our differences and 'pretending' they don't exist in the 1st place, like over-political correct people do.

Unless we 'understand' our differences........just trying to 'make' people....'force' people to accept others will only lead to more resentments..........

That is why i hate over- political correctness....it's almost as ignorant and the the very thing it's claiming to guard against.

Discuss, understand, accept, differences, not pretend there not there..........
you can't accept anything unless you understand it !

Being gay is not a choice, do you actually know or have any contact whatsoever with gay people ? That statement comes from the deepest possible ignorance.
