I've kept this picture for over 25 years , as it was this image that got me into mountain biking... Looking at it now after so many years it's hard to describe how shocking/exotic/flamboyant the pink paint job was at the time, but to a 15 year old me it certainly got my attention! For me this is the Retrobike build of my dreams and I just missed out on the '88 frame that Racin'snake had for sale but it's now got me started.... Watch this space!

Re: Late eighties Cannondales

You mean dodgy wetsuits?

Anybody else who can pin point the time/moment when this all started for them?

Funny, I don't remember Attitude ever being called The Observer..... ;D

Also, why is he wearing a neck brace? Or is that for a diving helmet to attach to?

Difficult to tell at this angle (I'm sure someone will tell us) but I'd always thought it was an SM900.

Looks like an 1987 SM800.....and yip the back wheel was 24" (RM20) :D

Did it get you into anything else brother?

:D I was thinking the same, like musical theatre and cosmopolitan's ?

I have an 88 dale frame for sale, sm 600 i think, if you wanted to ship it from NZ, it's sitting under my workbench and sticks out just enought to catch my shin on a cople of times a week

Even have a pair of NOS roller cam brakes to go with it!
