Morning All,

Apologies for the non retro question but this is the only cycling forum i use.

I would like to do a mild upgrade to my 2010 caad 8 sora. It came with all sora parts except the brakes which are cannondale brand x.

I would like to upgrade these to somthing a bit better/less prone to rust. And including the small centering adjustment bolt.

do i need to stick to sora level because of the levers say br-3400? I was thinking tiagra or 105 would be nicer however the shimano chart suggests that sora sti are not compatible with tiagra br-4300?

any advice or options?

Thank you
Chris

Thanks Tel,
It was just that shimano chart top end to tiagra appear together in a top box.

and sora and below a different bottom box.

top box sti's works with top box calipers

bottom box sti's works with bottom box calipers

top box sti's works with bottom box calipers(reduced performance)

But NO diagram routing for

Bottom Box Sti's working with Top box Calipers

which is the bit i'm struggling with. I'm only an occasional roadie but at 16 stone like to stop ;)

Wouldn't take too much notice of that chart, certain parts are relevant but for the calipers you'll be fine from my experience.

It's probably getting at the difference in the gaps between sprockets when you go from eight speeds up to 9/10.
