Surly Moonlander

i saw these and the salsa version at the bike show in london this weekend.

simply awesome machines. As soon as i have the funds avaliable, its on!

I just have to get my transition Klunker order in 1st :D

Just realised my bike is 1yr old today!

Covered 1,738 miles in that time and in all conditions and its been an absolute pleasure to own.

Done all sorts and made new friends, seen amazing scenery and best of all enjoyed every mile!

Also encouraged quite a few others to enjoy and buy fat bikes of there own too.

Looking forward to new adventures!

Mate it's an absolute pleasure reading this thread. In the distant future ( so " when I've got money " ) I'm getting a Krampus because of this thread.

Good day!

Always good to see the lads and have a run out.

Wasn't looking good with the snow on the A171.....black ice, at least 6 cars smashed to bits and police all over.

Anyways, glad it had stopped and was thawing as we started the ride......the track has eroded quite a bit since last years run out.

22 miles in the slop meant the car wash was on order before I got home, best invention ever!.....blasted the muck off saving me an hour at least.

Few snaps.....non of my bloody puncture.....seem to be attracting punctures this year!

After struggling through the mud and snow, the long wait for my new tires was finally over today!

Charlie the bike monger had my bud and Lou 4.8" tires in stock!

Old BFL 4.7" measure out at around 4.3" to edge of tread...

After 1,700 miles they look ok but the grip just isn't there anymore, the knobblier bits are rounded off, making wet ground dangerously naughty.

Old BFLs come in at 1480grams and 1460grams, so wasn't fussed when the Lou was 1580grams and bud came in at 1540grams

Worst of the side walls, not bad actually, seen worse on bikes with 500 miles.

Rear tire has plenty of clearance, even when wheel is forward in stays.

i know.....i was surprised myself, had a sweat on blowing them up too!

they will get a bit larger as the tires stretch.....

get a small compressor, that and a digital tyre gauge were my first two purchases

they look very purposefull do them bud and lous

They have stretched another 0.2 of an inch over night!

Ain't even rode it yet.....been too busy, stuck the tires on, fresh stans in tubes and fresh brake pads on.

Ready and waiting.....oh and snow due through the night.
