2013 Retrobike Downhill race/meet you say??? :)

I'd be up for it, but you'd need to make an exception for me as my SX is an 05. My Tazer would count, but its dead.

Wharncliffe may be a bit tough for older bikes though...last times was up there, it had got a bit rougher than I remembered. If it was the preferred location though, you could keep it old school and use the old Diamondback track!

I'm not really sure why people are suggesting such relatively recent dates.
One should remember that Mountain Biking has it's roots firmly within timed downhills at the Repack events in the late 70s.

Also, in the UK at least, most events during the late 80s to mid 90s a race weekend involved the downhill and observed trials on Saturday and the XC race on Sunday. Most people would use the same bike for all three.
It was a few years later when each discipline moved further apart with the development and increasing use of specialist bikes.

My personal opinion is that the spirit of Retrobike rides generally falls within the do it all on one bike ethos before all the niches took over.

That said, I quite like the idea of a downhill event. Fully rigid with cantis of course.

Surely retro Dh has to be rigid, down the side of a field, with a couple of man made jumps thrown in? Of course a few flags to manoeuvre round too.

You did Henley on thames too then?

Sounds like a laugh! You may need a few cats to get the numbers up. Moelfre would be a good venue, suitable for canti's and pushing/riding up but also great for the later years maybe per 2000 and post 2000 with uplift. You Can also hire it for a day or two with uplift and possibly get away with 40 riders or so. Nice place to camp too.
