Looks like Pace sub 130 bar is to become X-lite titanium. Had planned to strip the pace bar of it's blue anodizing but couldn't resist the Ti.

Some photos of parts thus far...

...it's going to be quite silver for the most part. Where's an uncluttered kitchen and white background when you need one?

Looked for a silver syncros in 27.0 for ages and even black ones to strip but nothing came my way. Wanted to pair it with my syncros stem but considering the front mech and brake levers are paul and the rear mech and v brakes are proshift I don't think I'm too fussed...

thats a good start

same frame as mine; before it getting repainted; did achieve a weight close to 10 kg, interesting to see where you will end.

Got a 19" 96 Explosif frame in columbus max thats 1988gm on my digital kitchen scales, so seems like reynolds 853 is a tad heavier.

It's all relative though because both frames will be super smooth rides.

True. Though you do get an additional inch with yours

A couple of jewels arrived today from the Netherlands...

...Bought the front mech and got the rear... for free! Only thing is the break away bolt is sheared and there's a bit of play in the parallelogram bit. Cage is bent a wee touch but easily fixed. Would love to get this back to working order - they were designed for that right???

A cracking pair and they'd look great on the build but the proshift is way more substantial and likely to offer better shifting with it's shorter cage and sturdier construction...

<cough> this should be in the 98 forum <cough>

More than 50% of this build is pre 97, with the only post 97 item being the frame. as it is not a true-period build i put it here because it would interest those into pre 97 components. If its an issue for rb, perhaps you can speak to john for me and get it moved into whichever is the appropriate section? :?

Cool mate looking forward to updates .... I weighed my newly acquired 99 explosif 18" 4.4lbs on my bathroom scales(not very accurate) but it is almost bang on the weight of yours.. Mine is in the 98> in case I upset the thumb suckers ;)
