I've got Extra Fat!

you can buy reducer headsets or headset reducers (2 different things confusingly!) - I'll see if I can get you some links.

Thanks for the info Ed ;)
I really am not too sure about the lefty fork - It is well weird looking when you ride it.
It has a great electronic lockout at the touch of a button and the fork is all carbon and ti.
So I may get used to it after time.

If I could get some actual sizes for these frame headset reducers then I should be able to turn some up on the lathe at work.

Yes they're not cheap for how much metal you actually get! Should be easy enough to measure the inside diameter of your headtube and the outside diameter of a 1 1/8th" headset.

This Merlin was indeed designed to run with the 80mm Headshock fork. Still available I'm sure. Spencer may even still have his for this very frame.

Nice bike. I so nearly bought this off him twice. :D

Merlin still held the spares for the rear shock too if you needed them (last time I did was 2004 and they had plenty).

Quite a stunner. Keep us posted on the ride.

Hello Wu-Tangled :) ,
Have you serviced the rear shock before? :?
I have noticed a little play in this and was going to strip it down to see if one of the bushes had worn.
Any advice would be appreciated mate. ;)
