kona brake booster....any idea what year etc?

Yes its a genuine kona part from 1993. here is a link to the suspect in their 93 catalogue

Wow, well done mate, I was giving up on getting any info on this booster and was beginning to think it was a non genuine kona item, but I knew some well informed retro Kona expert would come to my rescue. In your link Thomas, the illustrated booster from the 93 kona parts catalogue is black, but the seller did state that this was a very rare polished one as most were black. Also it states a weight of 95g which is the exact weight of mine. Cheers, i'm very pleased that I bought it now for only £8.
