If anyone's into sort of histroy of science stuff 'A Complete History of Almost Everything' by Bill Bryson is very good.

Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson is a ripping yarn too, all about code breaking and stuff

I read "The zombie survival guide" and "World war Z" in order to prepare for december 21st.

Or if you prefer a bit of action/adventure I would wholeheartedly recommend Lee Childs 'Jack Reacher' series of books. I picked up one about 4 years ago and quickly found myself working through the series. Just remember he's not Tom Cruise

worth seeing in 3D,

ive just read shaun ellis's book the wolf within, good for dog lovers
im about to read the long earth by terry pratchett and stephen baxter.

am currently reading the dexter series. much fun

and a massive fan of greg iles and robert rankin

If you like a bit of historical content then Robert Harris's books are brilliant. Enigma, Fatherland and the Rome series. History with a twist Neal Stephenson's Baroque cycle.

For crime I'd say James Ellroy is hard to beat. Start with the LA quartet then move onto the Underworld trilogy.

For a fantasy I've just read all of Joe Abercrombie's books, excellent stuff. Not too mad with the magic.

For non fiction, Ranulph Fiennes mad bad and dangerous to know is good, Selling Hitler by Robert Harris and Ted Simon's Jupiters Travels are all good too.

Could fire in a few Dennis Lehane books as well, nerv been dissapointed when I've picked one up.
