What colour should I paint my 1979 Carlton Professional?

Polychromatic mauve.
yes, I thought this too, and I still like it now. But generally a bit early to mid 80's rather than the late 70's of this bike.

OK. Having listened to all advice, and researched myself, I have ended up going for my very first thought. GREEN.
I love motorsport as much as cycling and have a passion for British Racing Green. The green I have chosen is a little lighter than that and is subtly pearlescent. They had a frame in the workshop that had been done in this colour and I loved it.

I think it will go really well with the tan coloured seat and bar tape. I pick it up in a week!

This is about the closest I could find on the interweb...

No extra brazings. I like the clips! Let's you know it is a Professional. (Well it does if you are as sad as I am rapidly becoming....)

I am thinking about doing something around the lugs. Would a gold line around the lug edges be too out of character? Gold on green looks great, and it would just add a little interest I think.

This picture gives you an idea of what I am aiming for I think.
