Pantographed / embossed seat stays?

Could someone possibly shed any light on the use of pantographed / embossed seat stays. I am currently very close to buying a particular bike for sale on the forum, but the only thing putting me off is the embossed seat stays with the word / name 'ABDUL'.

Could anybody provide me with any info with regards the the word / name 'ABDUL' on bike frames?

It bears no resemblence to that of the actual maker of the frame, unless at some point it has had new decals fitted, although these look original and they match the fork crown embossing of 'W'.

Could it be a riders / owners name?

The frame is reynolds 531c.

I really want this bike, hence the little info ive given on what it actually is as i dont want to miss out! If someone could help I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Sean.

Trawling through google and ive just found an image of a frame from the same maker with the name 'eric cottier' stamped into the seat stay.

Same lugwork and same fork crown, same period.

Got me thinking its either the person the frame was made for, or the name for that particular model.......
