MTB apps for MOBILE PHONES. Other then MAPMYRIDE that tracks where U have been onto a MAP. Surely there is an APP/website to SAT NAV a pre-RIDDEN MTB ROUTE?
Or at least to see WHERE I AM ON an a MAP of PRE-RIDDEN EXISTING MTB MAP ROUTE?

Registering interest on this too. I see the latest MBUK has a route which is really close to my work, but I want to be able to download it to my phone sat nav

Does strava do this? I think it does, but not very well. I'd love a sat nav for super long epic rides. I have taken to printing a map and taking a compass, only fail safe way really

You can do this with ridewithgps.com

You will have to copy the ride manually on to their map then you can save as a .tcx or .gpx which can then be uploaded

Oooh I'll try that

What phone?

What you are looking for is not necessarily a MTB app.
You need a mapping app, that will (if you don't have a permanent internet connection) cache or save the maps for offline use.

You need it to also log a track or route and save it allowing for export later to a PC, Google Earth, Sporttracks etc.

You also need it to import a track via .GPX (or other GPS format) that you'll map using whatever software on the PC, there are many many programs or websites that will do this.

And then it depends on what type of map you'd like to see, OS, Satellite, OpenStreet etc.

And then the price, for that app, for the maps or free?

I have a Samsung something modernish.

The route is on bikeley.com but cant see how it imports in properly?

From Bikely you'll click share and download the KML for Google Earth, or GPX for other apps such as Maverick : http://codesector.com/maverick

The Google Earth app on the phone can import KML files, you need a Google Account which you should have on Android. You can import to iPhone too.

Import how to : http://www.ehow.com/how_12157820_import-kml-iphone.html

Android app to make things easier : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appspot.wrightrocket.kmlkmz&hl=en

I also 'think' that Google Earth app caches the maps, so while you're on your home wifi have a scroll around the map area which should then be saved so you can ride without mobile data on if so desired.

Maverik has the advantage of OS maps and the ability to use it offline (just scan around the area you are going to be and go in a few zoom levels for each area) and many other maps to choose from and free.

Plenty of choice for mapping programs on android (ViewRanger, MemoryMap, , but OS maps are the harder part unless you pay.

MemoryMap is a good mapping program for OS maps (I use an old version on my computer and print the maps out, but costs money ;)) and you can export the routes to other software or the phone app.

You used to be able to run memorymap maps on SatNav's with a bit of hacking and the odd free OS map lying around on t'internet.

for SatNav style this program https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... rch_result
or if Google Navigation will import gps routes ?

Of course this is Android

I do know srands has a Win ~7.5 or phone.
I would have thought the best solution for Win Phones (never used) would be BING, as they have OS and road maps, the ability to create track and routes online as I have made a few, of course don't know if the WinOS has an app for it.
