Wikipedia is a largely unreliable source because unlike correct government figures it is made up of peoples opinions rather than facts as you are finding. It's a great reference guide but far from accurate when you are after truthfull figures and statements.
I asked if you had lived in the states purely because as you will appreciate, most have an opinion on something that often changes/modifies when it effects them first hand.
I myself had I stayed in Britian would have probably been one of the uninformed having an opinion based on emotion and a feeling of right but..now living here and in this part particular..the image of yankees running around wanting to kill everyone with their bunker full of guns is quite incorrect but like us most of their time is spent just trying to get by
The gun issue in the states is very much like most civilized countries have had. All countries at times have had times when our culture was gun driven so in that respect we have all been there.
we throughout history have faced the gun question and have moved on mostly from them. The u.s. as a country however is very much in it's relative teenage years so I am sure given time their time will come when they question the need for civilian gun use but at this stage certianly if any sense is to come from those poor childrens lives lost then at least a change appears it is coming and albeit a small change it would be a welcome change never the less and will be driven by the american people
That mindset change however small cannot be underestimated and should be encouraged
