And today I did......

That would have been a nice retro styled bike id it wasn't for the curved downtube which tries to emulate an aluminium hardtail sush as a specialised. Epic fail at the last hurdle

I testy rode that in September - quite nippy and very very stiff but as my arm still had stitches in it did feel a bit weird jumping off curbs and the like, I'd like to give it another shot now my arm is better.

Today I'm on day nine of a particullary bad throat infection which cumlinated in a rather nasty Tonsilitus episode, couldn't eat or talk. Still I'm oan the mend noo, nane a that woe is me pish fae me....well mibee a wee bit.

I also carried out this quarters bike count, now at 31  ranging from complete bikes to knackered frames. I reckon I can live with 11, 8 for sale and 2 to give away, 10 are getting stuck up the loft. The worst thing is bikes you become attached to, like my old Edinburgh Contour commuted for years and did a wee bit of touring on. Probably worthless but I can't think what to do with it. My Allez is the same, got me back road riding and did a shed load of miles on it, trained on it and raced on it. It had been spruced up as a winter bike but I've never used it a such.

I know the feeling, I've got more bikes than I need by far. A few of them rarely get ridden and I could do with realising some cash from them. Can't get over the feeling that I'd miss them when they're gone though.

Modern bikes are easy to sell on as there's always an other available. Retro and cherished bikes are different. Sure Kaisers Contour can always be replaced by a similar bike, but it won't be the same. Think carefully before getting rid of anything. I have boxes and boxes of photos I barely look at but would never get rid of. Have a couple of bikes I feel the same about. On the money side, you'll never get back what you put in. On this site we're all guilty of buying bikes and bits we don't need, but keep them long enough and they'll finally get used.

Dont want another do you :D ive a nice modern orange i need rid of

I've got an old Saracen Tufftrax Comp that I bought as my first MTB from Edin Bike Co-op in '89. Don't think it will ever get used again but can't bring myself to sell it or even give it away. Still have all the original components except the saddle that were stashed away after upgrades. My oldest daughter was the last to use it 2 years ago.

What I did today, well this evening around 7.15pm, was climb up on roof to fix aerial for TV as the wind had turned it round. Jeezo I know how Rod Hull must have felt just before falling off roof. Balancing on a ladder that's lying on the roof, in high winds, pishing rain and in the dark isnae very clever. Especially when the wife and bairns are out and nobody knows you're up there. Idiot.

No offence intended but you're off your rocker

Got a stuck seatpost out a frame :D
Luckily a steel post inside a steel giant hybrid.I took everything off, turned it upside down and clamped the end of the post in a big bench vice, just a matter of twisting the frame till something gave.I had to hammer the vice shut to get a really firm grip on the tube  It took a hell of a lot of twisting and pulling for 5 mins to get it to move 1/2",but once it was started it shifted out without too much issue.Pulled muscles all round

It feels good to take an otherwise useless frame and give it hope :D

No offence taken, and I agree with you.

I'm comfortable being up high as I'm a climber but last night certainly brought thoughts of "this is gonnae hurt" to my mind. My dad never understood my love for rock-climbing and he thought that me doing winter-climbing on ice and snow was socially irresponsible.
