Sunrace 7 speeders for £14 probably work OK but they look nasty! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-SUNRACE-7-14-21-SPD-THUMBSHIFT-SHIFTERS-LEVERS-/400352748270

I'm very lucky to have bought these 8 speed DNPs many years ago for ~£10. Totally brilliant and totally unobtainable now. Bizarrely the left hand is index-only and doesn't work well so I need to convert it to friction at some point. Right hand is spot-on though being designed purely for a Shimano 8 speed cassette.

I have been following this thread avidly for some time and these are the conclusions I have come to...

I have been looking for all-silver thumb shifters. After checking out Paul's (stupid price and cheap looking) and Sturmey (black), I found one manufactured by Velo Orange:

http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/ ... -23-8.html

They are out of stock but I was in touch with Scott there and he says they will be back in in January. At $50 a set they are significantly cheaper than Paul's and they come with all the gubbins to retro fit down tube shifters.

Next, I purchased a set of campag record shifters from ebay for £18 and I must say they are very nice...

I plan on running a 2 x 10 set up so I'll post more as I go...

Donnie
