I stupidly opened an email (no subject) from my mother in law......argghhh a mass mailing of a bagle worm !

PC is well messed up..............i managedtouse ESET anti virus to pull off some of it...it was in Spybot (anti spy ware) files that surprised me.

Now i can't run any ofour security stuff.....i can get into safe mode with networking though, but ESET won't run from thereit seems, not that it got it all off last time

Any serious answers to solve might get you a Chrismas present :)

I'm far from a computer expert, VERY FAR, but last time I had something like this, I did a system restore, then I could run my anti virus software.

Worked for me.

Made a disc for defender offline only to find we need a password to enter BIOS , we have never needed one before, perhaps the worm has tampered there ? ! cheers though, will try other things, have already tried Malwarebytes cheers.

Hi, run RKill download from here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/
then try running SuperAntiSpyware
Look in msconfig to see if there is anything set to start at bootup.
Go "start" "run" or search if in Windows 7, then type "msconfig". Go to startup and untick anything that looks a bit dodgy or you don't recognise.
Can be nasty little swines these things!

That would be one solution indeed, but it's not what the OP is after.

@ Green : when dealing with infected PCs, I'm a fan of Clamwin Antivirus. It's available in a portable version, so no need to install it. You can run it from USB or from any location on your hard drive(s).

As for the BIOS password, that would surprise me. Did a technician or shop work on the PC?
Either way, the boot device selection menu should still be accessible even without a password.

Clearing a BIOS PW is unplugging the PC from the mains, opening up the case and removing the BIOS battery, then press the power button and hold it for a few seconds, assuming you dont have a high-security PC like a Toughbook or so.
