1993 Raleigh Dyna-Tech Diablo RS

Hi,

Good news XT(737) rear mech is back on.

Bad news seat post clamp bolt just snapped, should be fun drilling that out.

Hi, quick update

I took this picture today after trying out the new forks on one of my favourite rides along side the Itchen river. The forks not quite the right age but beggars cant be choosers. Many thanks fred1 for the forks.

I've started to restore my beloved bike, the barends and seatpost have been tidied up and polished. 737 XT rear mech is back on and the front 737 XT front mech is being restored hence not on bike. I drilled the rear mech many years ago when I was a teenager, a crime some might say. New stem has saved 150g and is more comfortable.

The slicks are great fun especially on gravel! £20 for the pair ebay. Good commuter tyres, but I still cant beat my PB of 31 mins to do the 9 mile commute.

Thanks for looking, tell me what you think

Cliff

That is looking nice cliff, just subtle changes and tidying up are the key here as it's such a cool bike to start with. Mine could do with the same mind you i'm just riding too much to start doing much to it(or i've been too lazy in the evenings  )

Good to see the xt rear mech on, and the forks look ok imo.

What are your plans now?

Diablo was built on the MT3 frame yes?

Mine gave me 12 years of pleasure but area around drain hole in left seatstay is now badly corroded so it'll have to be skipped.... I used it for winter riding and they use outrageous quantities of salt on the roads here so it's my own "fault".

There are other issues too - seized seatpost, damage to right side of BB shell after cup had seized and had to be forced out... The ride has also gone very "Mushy"....

Just keep an eye on those drain holes.....

Hi All,

I thought I'd give you an update.

The bike is still doing 18 miles per day commute, the knackered BB has been replaced after I needed to drill the last one. The replacement was a UN54 from ebay(£15).

The new-ish quadra forks are good but nowhere near as good as the air/oil mag 30s that were originally on there

My vetta C15 cycle computer is back on.

Best Regards Clifford

More pics,

With a view to improving, what do you think needs my attention first.

I think the frame, as its starting to bubble, could do with a respray (blue only).

Does any one do new stickers?

Thanks in advance for your comments / thoughts.

Update, bike looks so different and I love it!

Spending lots getting the bike ready for a charity bike ride across the south downs way.

Not to happy with the wheels but they are lasting well on the daily commute.

There is some bubbles under the blue paint that will need attention latter this year.

Got some blue bars coming.

New fork legs almost ready just need spraying up, brake boss pulled out on the current forks.

Here is a pic

Must post latest Pic but I current dont have a good one.

The front forks now have purple lowers and a purple Kooka brace.

Handle bars have changed and are light blue like the seat post.

Looks different!

I'll see what I can find
