yes you can, on my train there is a compartment specifically for bikes and on london midland you can take any bike on any train as long as you're not getting off at euston during peak times on weekdays in which case the bike has to be a folding bike.
of course if you take the wheels off and carry it it becomes bike parts so you can bypass that little rule
