I have the Park BB tool and a brilliant little tool from Pedros which bolts the tool to the BB. Which means you can put maximum leverage through the tool without it slipping. Someone said to me that you can buy a bolt from a bolt stockist which does the same job but cheaper (Pedros tool was £10) but it's a weird thread size so regular bolts don't work. Best £10 I spent on tools!

That sounds like the opposite of the BBB bottom bracket tool I killed trying to remove the bb from my Scapin ~ the worst £10 I spent on tools.

Thought to be fair to it, it had removed and installed a few on other bikes, so I guess it wasn't a total waste of money and at least its new twisted shape is interesting to look at.

Hi,

nice to see that you are rescuing a great old GT steel frame!

(I am doing the same with a 92 Psyclone.)

92 is one of the best GT model years, I reckon. It is the year where the Groove Tube and the replacable mech hanger were introduced - two features your frame has!

I recommend going with the original fork and flip-flop stem. The stem was a nice GT invention. If you want a lighter fork, why not look for a 3D fork? Mine weighs 800g (after re-spray).

The Park tool has been amazing - only £10 IIRC - you can use a socket bar or a large spanner on it. It gripped so well on the plastic cup it ripped the cup in half without slipping! The Pedros bolt thingy is fantastic though...

The bullet brothers tensioner is the basis for the colour scheme of this build! :-D

I think so - Gil didn't mention any problems. He's going to do my design over Christmas - I can't afford to do this bike and the DMR at the same time so I'll get the DMR done first then crack on with this one. I have most of the parts though so it shouldn't be too hard - it's the paint work and decals which will be the main cost now.
