Mk2 Raleigh Bomber 1983 restoration project FINISHED

These are well documented as rebuilt 'Nigerian 3spd Roadsters' when Raleigh were ignoring that newfangled ATB lark.

I still to this day just cannot get myself to like these no matter what. These and Choppers.

I suppose its the crap brakes and just the look of it that put me off as a young fellow-me-lad...

Sorry!

I see what you mean, I am on the fence about them but those graphics are AMAZING!

you need some old leather off cuts to bolt round the fork and brake pads. stops a bit of brake flex. oh and some l shaped brakets to do the same on the rear brakes.

yeah good spot, I have both pairs of brake pad attachments, but great idea with the leather wrapping!

Re: Mk2 Raleigh Bomber 1983 restoration project

Not much left to do now, I'm hopefully collecting the frame from the powdercoaters tomorrow and still have to recover the saddle. Meanwhile, here's what's been happening with Lemmy:

The frame & parts sandblasted:

the brakes finished:

and the wheels polished up:

Just about to start on repacking the hubs and tensioning the spokes before fitting the tyres.

Also, Mike found some NOS wraps for the front brake pad braces on eBay from a guy selling tons of Chopper bits!

:D
