And today I did......

The trick is to be where its going to be not where its at as by the time your where its at its gone somewhere else...............I think

We're retrobikers, we're where it was

All mountain 29er's where its at :)

that's where I started, the problem is I was wanting to avoid the big names, Scott, Specialised, Giant etc hoping for something a little cooler but didn't really identify any options

the other concern I have is weight, the carbon all mountain 29ers/650b are hugely expensive and the though of man hauling a 30+lb'er up a hill isn't so appealling

so very open to suggestions

also - I have a good padded bike bag with lots of internal pockets for clothes / luggage etc - worked well on my recent trip to Italy, you get a 30Kg allowance when taking a bike - you're welcome to it for a loan if you need

with a shed of 5 90s mtb's this time round I going for something fully modenr and functional this time only

I saw a 36er at SSWC, mad looking thing, possibly just too big tho.

G, if I had to build a 29er for big mountain fun I'd look at the new Dialled 29er if you want a Hardtail or the Titus el Guapo 29er if you want squish. Neither cheap but comparitivley they are. Hardtail wise I'm sure the Scandal and Cotic Solaris would work well too. BTW thw SCandal is a bargainiferous £149 just now! Oh and dinnae forget the Karate Monkey nice short stays mean its highly chuckable. I'd pay as much attention to the whee;l build as the frame choice, because they are such a large component I'd research this also.

thanks for that Kaiser..

the scandal is a total bargain, agreed. the titus looks interesting, and tbh honest, found myself looking at the canyon nerve yesterday and concluding that buying a complete bike (like the titus also) is so much better value for money. they must get some incredible discount on groupsets etc

but need to cool my jets for the time being, i think
a few weeks back I had the ritchey p-29er frame, ritchey wheels and a set of forks in a shopping kart and crapped out..

wifeys year on maternity is starting to cause serious financial alarm

ultimately if I'm going to get something think I may as well try full bounce
