That's as maybe, but the thread title is 'Reader's MTBs-->1997' and my '98 model was available in '97...

...or should we say 'anything after December 31st 1996 doesn't count?' ;)

You're probably not the only one, but that's my 'literal' translation of the meaning...

...it was manufactured/built/sold in '97, so in my eyes it qualifies

No, the frame you're thinking of is the '96-'97 Explosif built from Columbus Nivacrom Max OR tubing whereas mine is the '97-'98 model built from Reynolds 853 tubing.

If one had come up at the time I may have gone for the Columbus frame, but I've always had a thing about Reynolds tubing, ever since I was old enough to know that it made a difference :cool:
