1989 & 1992 Marin Bear Valley, 1990 Team Issue

All starting to come together now.

Need a different stem, don't like the rise of this one - plus it is too chunky. Will have a look out for another Controltech, or Syncros.

Nice collection mate Team Issue looks like a 93, not a 90 to me though :?

Thanks, I'm a sucker for these Marin's. The team has a 1" stem, non afterburner rear end. It was badged up as a 1993, but they looked like replicas.

80s Marins are very cool, one day!

Finally got to ride the Team Issue for a short distance. Feels nice and responsive, just needs some new elastomers (which I think I've finally sourced) and a fine tune before proper use.

Oh and I know the tyres are on backwards...







The Bear Valley is getting the Magura HS33's fitted, just need to buy a few spare fittings and set them up properly.

The small 1992 Bear Valley was stripped for spares, and replaced by one exactly the same but in a larger size. This was designed to be used for trips into town, abandoned outside the butcher etc.

However, wasn't getting on with it, and so will be selling it on at some point soon. Replaced by a 1987 Schwinn: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=302104

Have been running it as a single speed all summer, but just can't fin a ratio which suits. Recently purchased an XTR M900 gearset and some XT thumbshifters, and looking forward to testing it all out.

I have a 91 and it does have a 1 1/8" so if yours has a 1" ht it must be pre-91. Decals are clearly later.

Have you seen any catalog information on a 1990 TI? I wonder why it has rack mounts?

Rebuild coming together now.

Cranks stripped (and since polished), L&M, Middleburn and Pace rings.

Front M900 mech is on, XT thumbshifters fitted, cables all upgraded to braided Jagwire.

Should be ready to use again this weekend, can't wait.
