Saddle/bar tape/lever hood quandary ??

Benotto type tape doesn't get dirty, ever.

Bike Ribbon (lightly padded plastic tape) doesn't get all that dirty.

Cotton tape does but that's what a brush, soap and water are for.

The trouble with white tape is its grubby after a couple of rides, same with amberwalls. All very well on a show bike that is never ridden.

Clean tape is all very well on a show bike but real bikes have a lived in look.

Mark.

White saddles are a late 80s thing. Other colours are a 90s thing.

Earlier than that - Black or brown.

White bar tape - to show it's clean and not full of manky cack and germs.

Gum hoods.

I hope you have got your seat post sorted!

You need 600 ax levers with NOS gum hoods - available on ebay tonight. The brakes are cheap the hoods are not!

£100 for the hoods!! I have not bid on them as i knew you wanted them.

Take care

Thanks for all the input guys.. Black saddle/gum/brown hoods( modern comfy levers) white tape it is :)

Of length I need it may stay :)

Link for new hoods -

I was wrong about the price - it is £100.08 plus £23.77 for P+P - cheap as chips!

Get 'em bought before someone else does! Perhaps the seller has an appropriate seat pin for you too - a new mortgage may help pay for it!!!
