Sonic cycles restoration.

Coincidently i have just purchased some Tricolour brakes :D

So, i've heard back from Helmut, he shut the shop in 2000/1 so i'm going with the frame being built in 1999, turn of the century you might say

Good choice, they are seriously cheap for the quality.

1999 eh? Good year for bikes, as it's the same year as my Raleigh. ;)

I need to find out what 1998/9 campag looks like

i think 98,99 campag chorus would be 9 speed and dose look sweet, but you will have to dig a bit deeper for it.and remember the old saying"shimano wear,s out, campag wear,s in"

.

Frame is now with Paulus in Burry Port. http://paulusquiros.co.uk/

He's going to remove the BB, seatpost and stem. Bead blast the frame and braze on 3 new cable stops.
Then i have to make the tricky decision of refinishing her

Jose is making some awesome stuff. I'll try and get some pics next time i'm down there but some of the frames will be next years show stuff

.

I've no idea on a groupset for this.
Italian tubes draw me towards Campag, but i have no experience of there parts at all.
Budget, not that its a small budget particularily, draws me towards Shimano and more specifcally there Tricolour groupset :D

Decals arrived earlier.
I don't think i'm going to be able to use them as i think the downtube ones and possibly the seatube ones are for an aluminium frame with much larger diametre tubes :(

Please don't give this frame to a powdercoater.
Powdercoat is for winter road frames and MTB. Sent the frame and the decals to Argos or similar and have it done properly!

.

Frame is being bead blasted today, i hope he doesn't find any holes
I might leave the painting too Jose :D
He's just done a custom frame for someone in what i can only describe as 'primer grey' and even that looks cool

Don't know what colour to go for now as i'm going to get new decals cut???? :?

.

Popped down to see Jose today at Paulus Quiros.
Bike bike is now stripped ready for paint and all the repairs have been done.
He handmade the cable guide for the rear mech as he wanted it to match the guides/stops for the brakes. The attention to detail is superb.
There was a small area of gauging in the driveside chainstay which looks like it was caused by the chainset rubbing due to the bb being too short, that has been filled with brass.

So much lighter with all that paint gone

So what colour??????? :D
