Tracking a laptop....

my boss had her house broken into recently.
laptops were taken - including her daughter's.
since getting new laptops after an insurance claim, the daughter can see someone is using her stolen laptop through skype (the old laptop logs in automatically, so i guess whoever has it has not noticed this).

i guess my question here is:
is it possible to find out the location of the laptop through skype?
 
Can't the police track it via the location specific IP address that Internet providers assign to each session?

no idea, probably worth her just passing this info on to the police, apparently the people that did this are part of a gang that are targeting the area, so i am sure they'd be interested in the info - even if the person with the laptop now is not the offender, they could possibly make a trail back from where it came.

they were still in the property when my boss got home, but made thier escape from somewhere up top of the building...:shock:
police were kicking themselves when they realised how close they were :roll:
