Raven 1 rearend transformed in Raven 2 rearend?

Anybody knows if this is really pos? Found this pic on vintage cannondale.
The rearend showing is of a Raven 2, there are two types, this one and the triangle one, if so that would be great, but I think he made a adjustment?
Can anybody tell or see? Maybey Jiskdog can tell?

Never seen that done before?I wouldn't do it as I much prefer the look of the mkI rear triangle and trying to find a rear end would probably be quite tricky.
Not sure how much modification you would need if any?
 
Isn't this like the 'Uber V' conversion people do/did on Super V's using a different rear end? (Jekyll I think as they are interchangeable)....
 
The thing is they got the handling bang on with the mkI raven, I really wouldn't change anything on it can't see it making it any better.
 
That rear arm is the cast one that was prone to cracking and Cannondale replaced them if you were the original owner.


My Super V 1000SL had one like that and I replaced it with a CAAD4 rear arm off a Jekyll.

Oops just re-read your OP and realise you want to use a cast arm like in the pic of Raven in OP.

I'm sure that they are dimensionally the same between the cast arm and the CAAD4 Jekyll arm at least. If I remember correctly I measured the distance between the shock and arm mounting points and to drop-outs and they were the same on both.

So they are interchangeable so should make no difference to how bike handles.

Had a look on the Uber V site and the Raven 1 may be different. Is yours a Raven 1 or 2?

I don't think you could do the Raven as an Über V due to the front shock mount

I put the links up for the Uber V site just to show what fits what between rear arms and frames not to show how to turn a Raven into an uber V. It can't be done as you say. It shows that rear arms are essentially interchangeable.
Maybe an uber V lite though. My Super V with Jekyll CAAD4 arm and Titanium Lefty is near enough for me. :cool:

So you have a Raven 1 and want to fit a Raven 2 rear arm.

The cast rear arm and the CAAD4 "triangle" rear arm are dimensionally the same with the rear shock mount set further back. I think this was to accommodate longer shocks.
Does your Raven 1 have an earlier "triangle" type with the rear shock mount further forward as triangular tabs on vertical tube on front of arm?
If yes your shock might not be long enough to fit to give you same frame geometry.
Since I'm basing my answer on what I've done to my Super V, not a Raven, and photos of all the different rear arms I could be talking complete bollocks. :oops:
