I bought this bike back in 1991 and the first years it was ridden in original configuration with thick tyres, no mud guards and only a battery driven head and tail light. But over the years this bike more and more mutated into a "street machine" including bluemels mud guards, a dynamo driven lighting system (currently Busch & Müller S6), thin high pressure tyres and road appropriate gears.

Some technical specs:

frame: Tange MTB db
hubs: SunTour XC Pro 7 speed standard (non-MD)
rims: DT swiss 4.1 with DT 2.0-1.8-2.0 spokes
tyres: Ritchey Tom slick 1.0
brakes: Shimano BR 732 with Mountech hangers and Kool Stop pads
brake levers: Dia Compe SS-7
shift levers: SunTour XC Pro
FD: SunTour XCT
RD: SunTour XCD with Avid Rollamajik
cassette: SunTour XC Pro/LTD PowerFlo mixture 7 speed 12-30
bottom bracket, crank: Shimano Deore MT60
chainrings: Sugino steel/Alu 50-38-24
pedals: Wellgo LU-somewhat with Christophe clips
saddle: Brooks Flyer
seat post, stem, handlebar: Kalloy "no name"
grips: biogrip
dynamo: Busch & Müller S6

Love that Rollamajig. Avid only does the plastic these days.

I hate to disappoint you, but sad as it is the Rollamajig is a plastic model from 1997 or so. But i went with a neutral grey one not the red or yellow models. ;)

I love the Suntour kit on this bike. I must admit I've always had a soft spot for Specialized(s) of this era.

It looks like it would be a very competent commuter steed.
