...is it made of the same sort of plastic as the gripshift inner's ?
btw, what did u cut yours with?
 
Yeah that sort of plastic. I cant quite remember, juniour hacksaw i think to get a good cut.

...could the hacksaw cutting have ovaled the tube a bit & caused the play? i was gonna use a pipe cutter.
 
No to cut it i had to cut the original tabs off that the collar sits on and its unlikely that you will be able to recreate this perfectly. Most also have a lip or divot which the collar sits on.

...were yours dual clamp ones?

It appears DMR and Specialized do some single clamp versions, which i guess would work well, as they are intended to be run with a single clamp.
 
A good point that i forgot to mention: Do Standard & Oversize MTB bars share the same grip size? ...is it just the clamp size that's different?
 
all grips are same size .

mine were dual clamp , but after cutting it, it became a single clamp .
not an issue .
