Same era as your levers I think - late 50's.
Similar to my Mk7 on my Carlton Constellation.

These are typical of the Cyclo Benelux 'dancing chain' type rear mechs.
My Carlton dates from 1958, so your mech is defo around this period.
These mechs were specifically designed to accommodate 3, 4 or 5 sprockets. Since they can only be adjusted in one direction, as the large spring which pushes the cage inwards as opposed to a parallelogram mech which pushes out/away from the largest sprocket, is a fixed length. With careful setting up these work well. The main adjustment is achieved by rotating the large knurled nut through which the actuation toggle chain passes.

they both come off of a Sun worksop frame, do you think the frame will date from the same era?

Hi I would say the frame does indeed. Looks to be early 60s. Does it say Worksop on the head badge? If so it was built at the Carlton works in Kilton road. I love that frame by the way. I could really go a bundle on a nice Sun like that. Look forward to the build!

yes indeed it does say Worksop on the headbadge, its part of a large collection of old vintage frames that were handed down to me by somebody who worked at Raleigh for 30 years
