I am in need of a playbike so I've decided to build a small jump/trail hack bike loosely based on Steve Peats old Gt slalom bike. I've already found a 16" Gt frame. It's currently bright pink haha but will be having a change to black. My favourite part of the bike will be the forks. I've just bought some DHO's with single crown conversion. Paint again will be needed. I'm still undecided on single speed or not. I like the simplicity, and it is only a play bike but still.....
None of the parts have arrived yet as I only bought them over the weekend but as they do pictures will be posted. I've added the only pic I have of Stevie's bike (if anyone else has some or mag scans please post on here!) :D and some of the forks colours I'm going to do.

Well the forks came...I was expecting rough but wow these were on another level. Mis-match bolts, rounded bolts, popped seals.... and the paint is doggers...although that I expected..

They were the chequered version but I'm getting rid of those decals (although I found a picture with Stevie sporting them!) I want the blue version.

So I've changed the seals, replaced the crown bolts, added some fork boots (cheers GT-Steve) and gave them a proper service. Feeling alot better about them now. Paint work still needs doing but I have removed grotty old decals. Still waiting on frame but I'm expecting that early next week.

Can't really tell from the picture but I promise the hard work was on the inside  Hopefully I'll have these finished in the next couple of weeks

Cheers guys! I was beginning to think no one was interested except me haha! I'm off work next week and by the end of it I hope to have the frame and forks looking something like I want. Updates will be done as often as possible :)

The frame is here!! No dints or anything shady (apart from the colour haha) Really really happy with it. Not the same frame stevie used but hey-ho the build will still go on in that style :D

Hey that's a great colour though! Loving that!

Nice project. I fancied summat like this after watching old vids from mid 90's.

What frame is that?

And it's a 16 inch frame? What size trail bike do you usually ride?

Its a 16" Avalanche. Too small for long distance rides but for general scooting about and some light dirt jumping it should be ok. I would normally ride an 18" but that would just be a bit big for the riding I'm wanting to do.
