All change in a couple of MacRetro households. And for the better, congrats to you both.

Today I got a sodding puncture, miles from home with no spare with me. Walked to the nearest bike shop and handed it in for a new tube, as did 2 other people in the time I was in the shop.

Just found out the Scottish furniture makers exhibition in being held at the lighthouse (design centre)

I worked in the lighthouse on a job as cabinetmaker,we did the Vitra shop,full fit out the works.
Havent been back since so will be nice to see the other guys and also the lighthouse people.Unfortunately,the architect (Dave Mason)was killed in a bike smash so the firm TeamQ is no longer there.

Have to say that totally blown away yet again by the work on show.In particular there is a chest of drawers in i think cherry needs to be seen as i couldn't describe it honestly enough.

I have cherry flooring, the grain pattern is amazing.

It was cheap too, and has proven much harder wearing than I expected.

Still have a few hundred T&G lengths left, must do a project with them.

...and that seasoned mahogany I have that was going to be a fireplace in our old house.

I think I have a cherry floor - herring bone tongue and groove, I have around 1.5 m square area missing due to a damp issue the previous owner replaced it with plywood, how much do you have left HF

Personally i wouldnt have picked cherry as a flooring timber due to is being too soft a choice for the heavy traffic a floor suffers from :?
It is after all weaker than European beech.
Japanese or rock maple would be a better choice as its higher density equals a harder wearing surface. :?

Cherry for furniture and veneer but for flooring i wouldnt have thought it a very good choice.

Bastard to work in :? Very chewy and prone to splitting.I have 2 pieces ive done in Cherry.One is a small console table,the other a large reproduction Frank Lloyd Wright 619 mayers desk

My floor might not be cherry, I'm guessing based on the colour and grain being similar to a cherry tree we chopped down in the garden - it's definitely not as red as that desk though but neither was the tree.

It is in a bedroom so traffic is light, it has a pinkish hue.
