I couldn't get the bike I initially planned for l'eroica ready, so with one week left there followed a chance of plans.

So dear people, I present you my...

'Strada bianche' ! :D

The Vittorio Strada before:

The Vittorio Strada with the l'eroica specific modifications:

Low-land freewheel replaced by one with substantailly larger cogs. One 'hatch-plate' derailleur made place for another: Dura-Ace EX went for early Deore:

Campagnolo chainset replaced for Suginos with smaller ring. Handy one key release bolts:

The Avocet 25mm tires weren't really 25mm. Hopefully the 26mm Specialized tires with 'Armadillo technology' will offer more comfort and snake bite resistance on the poor 'Strade Bianche' roadsurface:

Campagnolo Electa seat. I like it. Of course I won't forget to let the air out in transport... (plane) :

Some additional parts and some extra padding has to be put in the box and I am ready to leave:

Happy :)

Quality.

I wish I was going. A few lads from the cycling club I'm in are, and I'm green with envy.

Are you going for the long course and the hamper ?

Thank you all. I am very much looking forward to the event

I do not know yet what distance I will opt for. I am prepared for the 210km, but it depends on the company, weather and probably some other factors.

That's just lovely, very apt mix of Italian flair and Dutch practicality. Best of luck down there!

Really nicely done. As said above, Dutch bikes seem to be able to combine
Italian flair with a more practical side.

Have you tried the Campagnolo airbag saddle in this type of situation before,
or is this an experiment? Does it work?
