Cycle Show NEC

I went to the Cycle Show at Birimingham's NEC today.

Lot's of the major manufacturers have steel bikes on show- Pinarello, Colnago, Raleigh and Condor and even Ribble to name but a few.

I got a nice piccy of a 'new' Pinarello but I wish the bloke in the background had not spoilt my shot.

(Interesting that Pinarello have gone the whole hog and put downtube shifters on this model).

Interesting, looks like retro is in; Raleigh, Colnago, now Pinarello, that's aside from the likes of Charge, Genesis and the host of custom frame builders.

It was pretty good - nice to see the Raleigh Clubman revised and the classic-looking Colnagos on show. Shame about Holdsworth though, a previously great London brand looks like it's gone the way of others, been bought up by box-shifters.

Very interesting on that Pinarello, says its got an Ultegra Vintage 60's replica groupset? Has dual pivot brakes, but also seems to have modern rings / cassette?

More here, but few details so far. http://www.pinarello.com/eng/veneto_749.php

Wonder if this will become available on its own?

*Hello Campag, how about a nice mid to high range groupset that has a little C-Record about it?*

p.s. Not that I don't mind what they do now but seeing that Colnago are doing steel Masters again, would be great if we had something that suited it really well. Fluted seatposts? deltas? dual pivots with sapphires?

OK, going a bit far now ;)

It is very good looking. The only thing that doesn't fit well are the bars I think. Where would the frame material fit into the Reynolds range?

If my memory serves me right (which it probably doesn't so I'm willing to stand corrected) I think that the Pinarello had a Sugino chainset on it to give it that retro feel.

The Light Blue Kings that was at the show had a lot nicer looking groupset on it although I could not work out which brand it was.

It's a shame that we cannot get the Raleigh USA range of steel road bikes in the UK as they look like they are made of a lot higher spec stuff:

The UK road team have been using the Militis range this year, which are supposed to be available in the UK in 2013, so fingers crossed they bring some of the steel frames in too.
