Any tips on separating and subsequently rejoining?

I have inspected it following cleaning and all the rivets look the same.

Should I just pick one at random and push it out with a chain tool?

There is no such thing as a Campagnolo 6-speed chain. They only began making chains in the 8-speed era and later. In the 7-speed era, they recommended Rohloff chains. Before that, they didn't even give any recommendations regarding chains. What chain are you looking at?

Well it's a campagnolo drive train so I assumed it was a campagnolo chain.

I can't see any branding on it.

Yes I pushed out a pin leaving it seated in the inner plate. Now it's soaking in paraffin.
