RetroBike National Series Rd 6: Peak District ~ AFTERMATH

Another great day out in the peaks, really nice laid back atmosphere. Great Company, Beautiful Weather and an absolutely top day out.
Thanks to all the organisers .
But seriously though, there really has to be another way up to the mast. It’s impossible to ride up, it’s painful to walk up, it’s just plain wrong. When we arrived at the rideable gritty gravel path, some woman came along from another path looking as fresh as a daisy ,I actually enjoyed all of the other climbs so come on you lot with local knowledge, sort it out.

Eh, what did I do?....... :? ....... back at you dude. Feetabix is one of the nicest blokes I've met on here, always makes an effort to chat with everybody, mind you I've honestly never met a retrobiker that I don't like.

Back on topic, what a great day, loved it even more than my first one last year. This one really is the highlight on my (sparse) riding callender, I even enjoy the drive there, such an amazing landscape.

Favourite moment of the ride had to be winning the second hillclimb challenge (cheers for the socks John). The track-stand-off at the end between John and myself seemed to last forever, I think John may have thrown it out of sheer boredom.

Many thanks to Paul, Martin and Lee for organising and guiding the ride and everyone else that I rode/chatted to. Cheers to Spence for the frame and Rob Atkin for the "Eat my Dirt", I'll be putting both to good use soon enough.

One last thanks to our sponsor "Bikefood". I've never used additives in my water before but gave it a go for the first time today and had my first cramp free bike ride in ages..............or maybe it was the wheel-disc .

Great days riding just what I needed before my 4 weeks off the bike due to work sending me over seas.

super ride, great weather will be back next year

that was a nice place to ride, did'nt like the techy downhill bit.
i think the pace was a whole lot heavier with all that mud.

i think if we do this again we should warn the cafe of 40 mtbers arriving,
so they can be a bit more prepared with extra bacon sausage & eggs etc.
although my scone with jam & cream was very nice.
looking forward to the long mynd next, and i can wear my new retro bike top.
don't know why but i always catch someone urinating when i take a pic.

We tried that last year. It made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

I had a pint and had to stop twice on the way back home!! Need to fashion something out of an old Camelback for next time

Really great ride - as expected! Thanks to the organisers and the guides who did a terrific job. The weather was awesome, wasn't it? The ground had dried out a lot after the mid week rain which was really nice.
Gutted I missed the 2nd half of the last climb as I felt I had energy but my knee was very very painful whenever I tried to put pressure on the pedals. I didn't want to hold everyone up as I would have had to walk all the way up.
I was comparing myself against the ride last year and was chuffed to be able to ride all the way up to the radio mast, no walking! I did stop for a breather 3/4 times but was determined to make it. And I wasn't the last one up!
My right hand was hurting the whole ride and I only figured it out the next day when I realised I'd trapped my nerve in my neck again which was making my arm go numb. Ow!
I do have some pics which I will post up as soon as I can, not many but the weather made them look great!
